Dr John Younger is a Brisbane cardiologist and advanced cardiac imaging specialist with a particular focus on preventive cardiology, coronary calcium scoring and CT-detected coronary plaque. He provides personalised assessment and treatment to reduce the risk of heart attack and cardiovascular disease. His imaging expertise includes cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, echocardiography, stress echocardiography and transoesophageal echocardiography. He is a co-author of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand position statement on coronary artery calcium scoring and the Australian and New Zealand training guidelines for cardiac MRI.

He is a Senior Staff Specialist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, a consultant cardiologist at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. He co-authored the Cardiac Society’s position statement on coronary calcium scoring and the joint position statement on cardiac MRI.

Cardiac Imaging services are provided at several locations. In central Brisbane cardiac testing is performed St Andrews Hospital on Level 6 or Level 1, depending upon the type of test.
In North Brisbane, cardiac CT and MRI are performed at St Vincents (Holy Spirit) North Side in Chermside, at Queensland Diagnostic Imaging (QDI) which is on the ground floor. To contact QDI call 07 3256 4011 or visit their website here .
